Fantasy Races Done Alien And Simple

As you are likely aware, there is no end of discourse around “race” in RPGs. Some people see them as stand-ins for real-world races, or as representations of something like the abstract concept of different human ethnic groups. Others see fantasy races as totally different from humans, and as representations of mythic themes or utterly alienness. I prefer the latter. 

These are fantasy races that use special extra ability scores to approach what makes their view of the world special. They are compatible with every edition of D&D.
